The week before we got there, DART opened the first stage of their orange line to La Colinas, Texas. This image (the second link at the bottom if it works) was taken from the roof of a parking garage. If one looks the other way, you get the local ALRT cars that serve La Colinas. This was one of those days when you literally could fry an egg on the sidewalk. I understand that DART got the capacity for the last two lines by having Kinki build the low floor center sections and one extra new truck for each of the original cars. That got them about 25% to 30% more seating capacity … enough to spread the fleet out over the Green and Orange lines. By December, the Orange line will be extended west to the door step of DFW Airport. The final extension will be into the airport. The orange line is a dad slow … winds a lot. The green line has a lot of 55 and 60 mile-an-hour running. Orange was hauling a fair number of people for a line that was only in its second week of service. Yes, you know I like to educate. There is still a teacher in me. If you don't understand where these lines run, here is the current DART map: http://www.dart.org/about/expansion/expansionmaps.asp
